The gateway I created for the Birdsong Burial Site.
This was a project that meant a lot — a memorial gateway for a natural burial site. The design needed to feel peaceful, organic, and timeless. We settled on a form with leaf and vine motifs climbing the frame, with silhouettes of birds worked into hand gate.
The frame is built from 40mm box section hot-rolled steel, with all decorative elements forged from 12mm and 16mm round bar. The leaf forms were hot-forged over the anvil, each one shaped individually so no two are exactly the same.
It sits at the entrance to the burial ground, surrounded by wildflowers and mature oak trees.
